“For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above; spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].” - Ephesians 2:10 (AMP)
Every single one of us was created for a purpose. God makes that abundantly clear. He does nothing by accident. The Bible says we are His workmanship, His masterpiece, carefully and wonderfully made, designed for good works that He prepared long before we were born.
That truth should give us tremendous confidence. It means that in Christ Jesus we can rediscover our true identity, the person God created us to be. If God intentionally designed you, then He also designed an assignment that only you can fulfil.
This also means that a life without purpose is never God’s intention. If you are drifting through life without direction, it is time to stop, reflect, and ask the questions that need to be asked. Why am I here? What has God called me to do? How can my life bring Him glory?
Consider the man born blind in John chapter 9. His condition was not meaningless; Jesus revealed that his life would display the works of God. In the same way, every life has significance. Jeremiah 1:5 reminds us that before we were formed in our mother’s womb, God knew us and appointed us for His purpose.
So, if you are uncertain about God’s purpose for your life, ask Him. If you have convinced yourself that your life has no meaning, reject that lie today. God’s Word declares otherwise. You have a purpose. That truth is not based on your feelings or your circumstances; God Himself establishes it.
But there is one final truth we must not overlook. The key to discovering and fulfilling our purpose is found in Christ. We were “created in Christ Jesus… for good works, which God prepared beforehand.” Outside of Him we may find ambition, success, or recognition, but only in Him do we discover the purpose for which we were created.
You are not an accident. You are God’s workmanship. You were made on purpose, for a purpose. Seek Christ, discover that purpose, and walk boldly in it.
