“Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], so that no one will fall by following the same example of disobedience [as those who died in the wilderness].” - Hebrews 4:11 (AMP)

I have heard the phrase “put pressure on the Word” many times before, but as I reflected on this passage, it took on a fresh meaning.

What does it really mean?

It means making a demand on the Word of God to produce what it has promised. It is choosing to rely so completely on God’s Word that every other option gradually loses its grip on your heart.

This is what you do when you have exhausted your own strength, when every door appears to be closed, when nothing seems to be working, or when you simply cannot see a way forward. At such moments, you may be tempted to look for someone to rescue you. You may begin scrolling through your contacts, searching for the right person to call. You may even be tempted to use methods that border on manipulation just to create an opportunity for yourself.

But God’s instruction is different. He says, “Make every effort to enter that rest.”

Labour not to solve the problem yourself but to allow the Word of God to become your only anchor. Stay with His promises. Meditate on them. Speak them. Hold on to them until they produce confidence in your heart and bring you into His rest. When you arrive at that place of assurance, you will discover that God has already gone ahead of you.

Never put pressure on people to become your source. Put the pressure on the Word of God. Stand on it until it delivers what God has spoken.

The three Hebrew boys did exactly that. David did the same when he stood before Goliath. Paul the Apostle found that same rest on a ship that seemed destined to sink. In every case, they buried their fears, anxieties and uncertainties beneath the promises of God and the unchanging integrity of His Word.

Your miracle is not secured by the pressure you put on people. It is secured by the confidence you place in God’s Word.

Apply the pressure in the right place.

I woke up hearing these words, “”put pressure on the Word.”.i then came across your post which spoke so much to me. I am seeking to enter into His rest. Doubt and unbelief try to creep in, but I am learning to “ abide under the shelter of his wings (Psalm 91). Thank you for your obedience .
